Everyone needs a VISA to travel to India, and we haven't included international flights in this tour. If you have any doubts, just contact our team and we'll talk it over with you.
We suggest an extension to Kanyakumari if you have time!
Take out travel insurance, starting before you take your flight.
Remember to pack clothing that is appropriate, read up on India before the adventure and most importantly come to this beautiful subcontinent with patience, good humour and a smile.
This will be a more relaxing journey, based on the discovery of two of the most inspiring states of South India: Kerala and Tamil Nadu. You will pass through the important Western Ghats and backwaters. We have mixed this tour up so you get time to explore and also time to relax.
You will arrive to the Malabar Coast, to the city of Kochi. From there we will head into the Western Ghats to see Munnar and Periyar's national park in Thekkady before heading to the backwater destinations of Kumarakom and Alleppey. From here begins the relaxing part of your tour as we end the adventure on the beaches of Kovalam.
Day 1 > Arrive in Kochi as per your international flight details. Today's activities will depend on your arrival time.
Day 2 > Head east into the Western Ghats to our destination, Munnar, a refreshing hill station known for its tea, coffee and spice plantations. Take an excursion to a local tea museum.
Day 3 > Continue through the Western Ghats to reach Thekkady, and our destination Periyar. Enjoy an amazing martial arts show in the evening.
Day 4 > There are plenty of things to do in Periyar, and today we have included a tour of the local spice gardens. We have left the rest of the day open so you can do anything from an elephant wash to a boat ride on the lake.
Day 5 > Onwards to the backwater territory, welcome to Kumarakom, a sleepy town on the Lake Vembanad. Explore and lose yourselves in the winding canals and sample the local delicacy called 'Meen Pollichathu', fish baked in banana leaf.
Day 6 > Today you will head down to the docks to be picked up by your houseboat team, welcome aboard the traditional Kettuvallam. Tour the backwaters towards Alleppey and enjoy all meals aboard. Spend the night on the houseboat.
Day 7 > Today we will journey south to the beach town of Kovalam, known for its endless coconut trees. Later on enjoy a local Ayurvedic massage and relax in Keralan hospitality
Day 8 > Relax in Kovalam. Our drive will be on call should you wish to take an excursion to nearby towns like Varkala. Otherwise we recommend strolling, exploring and speaking to locals.
Day 9 > After breakfast head north up the coast back to Kochi. Enjoy some sightseeing of St. Francis Church, the Chinese Fishing Nets, the waterfront area and the Basilica. We have included a demonstration of Kathakali in the cultural centure in the evening.
Day 10 > Today is your departure. Our team will take you to the airport with time to catch your international flight home. Services will end here.
