The Grand Tour of South India is designed to give you an immersive journey through the South, seeing as much as possible and passing from the Eastern to the Southern to the Western coasts.
You will arrive to the Coromandel Coast, to the city of Chennai aka Madras. From there we will head south through Mahabalipuram and Pondicherry to the cultural capital of Tamil Nadu, Madurai. After seeing the southernmost tip of India, Kanyakumari, we will enter Kerala to see Kovalam and the backwaters then the Western Ghats, ending on the Malabar Coast in Kochi
Day 1 > Arrive in Chennai as per your international flight details. Today's activities will depend on your arrival time.
Day 2 > Drive along the coast to Mahabalipuram, first passing through Kanchipuram. Enjoy sights of the Varadharaja Temple on arrival.
Day 3 > Enjoy a full day's sightseeing in Mahabalipuram, visiting Pancha Rathas, Tiger Cave and of course the Shore Temple.
Day 4 > We will continue our adventure down to Pondicherry, the old French colony. Take time to explore and lose yourself in this fascinating town.
Day 5 > Today we will head over to Thanjavur, home to some incredbile temples.
Day 6 > On the way to Madurai, we can pass through Trichy which is home to the Ranganathaswamy Temple.
Day 7 > Today you will have a full day in Madurai, to see sights such as the Gandhi Museum and the Meenakshi Temple.
Day 8 > Our next destination will be the southernmost tip of India, Kanyakumari. We have included two nights here to break up the journey and give you time to relax.
Day 9 > A full day in Kanyakumari will give you the opportunity to see the Kumari Amman Temple, Dandhi Mandapam, The Thiruvalluvar Statue and much more.
Day 10 > Next on our route is Kovalam, visiting the important city of Trivandrum on the way.
Day 11 > Free time in Kovalam will give you the opportunity to explore and of course relax. Your driver will be on call for you should you wish to take an excursion.
Day 12 > Today we head up the coast to the famous backwaters of Alleppey. Take time to explore and try some of the local delicacies.
Day 13 > This morning your tour of the backwaters wil begin in a traditional houseboat called a Kettuvallam. All your meals on the houseboat will be included and you will spend the night here.
Day 14 > Disembark in Kumarakom and explore the area if you wish before our driver takes you over to Thekkady and the Periyar National Park. Enjoy an evening show of Kallaripayattu, local martial arts.
Day 15 > Enjoy a full day in Thekkady and Periyar, where you can take a boat ride on the lake, and take part in one of many optional activities.
Day 16 > Continue through the Western Ghats up to Munnar, a truly impressive hill station knwn for tea, coffee, vanilla and spice plantations.
Day 17 > Today we will take you to your final destination, Kochi. Enjoy sightseeing of the local area and see a Kathakali dance performance in the evening.
Day 18 > Today is your departure. Our team will take you to the airport with time to catch your international flight home. Services will end here.
